Unitary Urbanism

In the Debord readings, I found unitary urbanism to be the most interesting part of the reading, tying into the Manhattan Transcripts. Unitary urbanism is the coming together of arts and technology as means contributing to a social environment. The spacial development must take into account the emotional effects of the environment. The environment in which a situation takes place can play a role into the atmosphere of emotions and the ambiance in that situation. Providing space to the environment can construct situations, collective ambiances, and determine the quality of a moment. In relation to the Manhattan Transcripts, I could see aspects of unitary urbanism. The park is a great place for conversations and interacting with people and the world. Since I am from the city as well, I connected the readings with experiences like going on runs by the park to clear the mind , going to the park to have a picnic with your girlfriend, and even going to the park to break up with a girlfriend. The park becomes a catalyst for unitary urbanism. In the situation, whatever it may be, you have enough space to feel the emotional atmosphere and get a physical understanding or reaction, based on a non physical feeling, of the social environment. The manhattan transcripts capture snippets of the park that hold emotional value just because of the situation in the environmental setup.
