As we move into the city and explore how the city relates to the buildings around them and how the style is determined. Each reading has their own opinion whether its Lynch, Moses or Jacobs. I found that with a pattern language they argued the city was defined by it’s inhabitants rather than it’s planners. Jacobs, an activist, argued that the “slums” were significant to the city and argued against the concept of urban renewal which Moses was pushing. Ultimately my take away from the readings was how all these people identified and even personified a city, giving it life.
